One Black Girl
One black girl wore her hair in back- She didn't have money to get it done... She would always take taxis downtown to the store to get soda in this regard... She'd come to me for simple things, A dollar here or there... But I made myself available For the more heavy duty necessities... Frozen dinner or maybe iced coffee, And she brought me a sweet fresh crescent roll... But, finally, It got out of hand, And I had to end this- 'what's yours is mine, what's mine is yours...' One black girl wore her hair in back- She didn't have money to get it done.
